Things You Will Need

For Meetings

For meetings, all scouts need a Class A uniform, a scout book, and a case for it. Troop 104 has spare uniforms available, so ask a Troop leader for more information. You can also get these at Glacier's Edge Council Scout Shop, here in Madison.

Sleeping Bag - rated for 30 degrees ($30+)

Sleeping mat - inflatable Therm-a-rest type OR foam folding backpacking type ($70)

Headlamp  - with red light mode. Scout choice of battery or rechargeable  ($50 or less)

Mess kit - plate, bowl, cup, utensils ($20)

Rain pants ($50 or less) and rain jacket 

By the time you reach the First Class rank

Tent - 2-4 person. Scouts share, so not every family needs one.

Hiking Shoes - high top

Backpacking pack  - internal frame 

Sleeping bag - 0-15d ($300)

High Adventure Participants

Backpacking Tent - 2-3 person tent, under 4 pounds, will be shared. Not everyone needs one.

Water purification - hand pump, Nalgene compatible

Backpacking stove - JetBoil style preferred 

Cook kit - metal preferred, light weight for backpacking

TWO Nalgene water bottles - Nalgene brand is large capacity, durable, easy to clean, and compatible with water filters.
